Check out all the epic 100-year celebrations happening in and around Washington

We’re only about three years away from seeing Washington mark the 100th anniversary of the start of the Great War. In honor of the anniversary, we look back at some of our best epic 100-year celebrations.

When Obama mused about the horrid conditions facing those in Vietnam in 2016:

After superstorm Sandy smacked New York City, Obama weighed in:

The Obama family in Korea in 2015:

Of course, he wasn’t, but here’s the president describing himself before he took office:

“Does anyone know how many of my Christmas presents were funded by whistleblowers?”

When Obama told Spike Lee how he was feeling about Hollywood’s choices during a White House fundraiser:

“I’m not watching Empire anymore, OK?”

After Vince McMahon was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017:

Obama called the wrestling executive a “networking rock star” at the time:

“Like I said before, I’m not watching ‘Entourage,’ but I’m watching Starz series like ‘Power’ and ‘American Gods.’”

And we take one more step back in time with a series of searing photos:

When Obama strolled through a former refugee camp in Ethiopia on a trip to Africa in 2011:

And here’s the president during a visit to the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in 2011:
